So you think you can Dance US is back

I love this show way too much… when it first came out I would fantasize (as I’m sure most people did) what my chances would have been if we had this show in my day. Back then I thought I’d at least make it to choreography but now… wow. The calibre of dancers is amazing. I love every single dancer in the top 20, and the first competition episode blew me away. I’m so glad I’m not American (or one of the judges) – there’s no way I’d want to have a hand in deciding who gets cut. So, first week – here are my favourite dances (can’t pick dancers yet – love them all):

Ashley and Kupono – Dance was the Crash Test Dummies by Wade and Amanda. LOVED this one – it took dance beyond just technique and created an experience. To see that level of performance in the first week – Kupono has a natural ability to fully embody what he’s communicating beyond just technique and facial expressions. Kind of like Mia Michaels where it’s hard to describe what makes them stand above others… you just know that they do.

Melissa and Ade – Contemporary piece by Mandy Moore. They are both so strong and natural. Ballet really is the best base.

Caitlin and Jason – Bollywood by Nakul Dev Mahjan. I can’t even comprehend how difficult that hand and foot choreography would be but they knocked it out of the park. Coupled with Caitlins acrobatic ability, this one had the moments you replay in your head.

So excited to watch week two I hear Stacey Tookey the awesome choreographer from So you think you can dance Canada is going to choreograph a number : D
